School district unveils logo, renovated boardroom

SAN BENITO — Those familiar with the San Benito school district’s boardroom might be surprised the next time they attend a meeting.

The school district hosted a ribbon cutting Tuesday night to unveil the new logo and boardroom.

The San Benito High School jazz band played while community members and administration were invited to see the improvements.

“I’m happy to say every month, every quarter we’ve seen progress,” said Michael Vargas, school board president. “Whether it’s in our communications department, whether it’s in our maintenance department, whether it’s in our curriculum, no matter where in the district we look, we have seen progress.”

The boardroom contains state-of-the-art technology, with large flat screens on three walls and a stainless steel version of the new logo incorporated into the wall behind the board’s seats.

“This is a culmination, a physical culmination of where we are in the district,” Vargas said. “Physically but also symbolically.”

The last time the district boardroom was renovated was more than 20 years ago.

The renovation is part of the Re-Imagine 5-Year Strategic Plan that was set into motion last year.

The new mission statement and vision statement were also unveiled at the ceremony.

Top readers from the MyOn program were invited to assist in the unveiling.

Acting superintendent Hilda Rendon said the boardroom is not just for the board.

“It will continue to serve as a multipurpose room for our district with events such as spelling bees and other events that we hold,” Rendon said.

Training, parent meetings and professional development training are some of the ways the boardroom will be utilized.

Vision Statement
