WESLACO — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred around 5:30 a.m. today on Mile 11 northwest of F.M. 491 in Mercedes, according to a DPS email.
WESLACO — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred around 5:30 a.m. today on Mile 11 northwest of F.M. 491 in Mercedes, according to a DPS email.
A 2002 gray Ford passenger car, driven by 19-year-old Juan Mercado IV, of Mercedes, was traveling north on Mile 11 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road, striking a palm tree.
Mercado was pronounced dead at the scene, the email said.
DPS is investigating the crash.
