‘Howl at the Moon’: Brownsville animal shelter offers adoption special

The Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center has unleashed an adoption special this week.

The “Howl at the Moon” pet adoption event started Wednesday and concludes Friday at the shelter off FM511 in Olmito.

The event has featured daily Facebook live events to help match shelter animals to local homes at an affordable and low-cost price of $49 per adoption.

All animals are fully vetted, officials said.

The shelter’s pet adoption package includes:

>> Spay/neuter surgery;

>> Rabies vaccination and tag;

>> City license tag;

>> Microchip and tag;

>> Vaccinations/deworming;

>> Heartworm tested;

>> First dose of flea, tick and heartworm prevention.

This event is curbside and by appointment only, officials said.

“Those interested in pet adoption, do not have to leave their vehicle,” stated a press release from the shelter. “Customers can fill out paperwork within the comfort of their vehicles and the pet is brought out of the facility for them to see. Use of facial coverings is mandatory and social distancing measures are in place for this event.”
