Man found shot to death; Harlingen police arrest suspect

HARLINGEN — Police arrested a suspect Friday in the shooting death of a man in Harlingen.

The man, who police did not identify, was found Thursday night in a parked vehicle with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Authorities responded to the 3300 Block of Adams Landing Thursday around 10 p.m. in response to reports of a man who had been shot, according to a Harlingen Police Department press release.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased Hispanic man in a parked vehicle. He had what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

“When we arrived to the location officers located him inside his vehicle and from there EMS was called. He was transported to one of our local hospitals just to verify he was deceased,” police Sgt. Larry Moore said.

Through an investigation, the police department’s Major Crimes Unit identified a suspect who was arrested on Friday.

The suspect was being held at the Harlingen Police Department awaiting arraignment.

The identity of the suspect and the victim will be released after arraignment, police said.
