Police: Father, son shoot each other at Harlingen home

Harlingen Police say a domestic disturbance between a father and son ended with both men shooting each other.

According to a news release from the department, when officers arrived at 5 a.m. on Wednesday to the 1000 block of Little Creek they found a man injured with a burn mark on his neck.

The victim told officers his son shot him with a flare gun. The father said he then fired a handgun at his son, striking him at least once.

“Upon arrival one of the parties involved had left the area on foot. It was found out later he was admitted to a local hospital and being treated,” Sgt. John Parrish said. “The second subject involved is currently at the station speaking to our detectives.”

The son was taken to the hospital by a neighbor and is listed in serious condition. The shooting remains under investigation.
