HARLINGEN — They’d been test driving cars since the first of December.
On Saturday, Charlie Clark Nissan gave away a new Nissan Versa to a customer in Brownsville and another in Harlingen.
“It’s just a customer appreciation,” said Adam Castillo, general sales manager at the Harlingen office. Everyone who performed a test drive on a vehicle in December at either Charlie Clark location was registered for the drawing Saturday. A large crowd gathered for the event, which featured festive music and a mascot in a suit who entertained visitors and even beckoned them to dance.
Owner Charlie Clark was already psyched about the car giveaway in Brownsville to an already valued customer. “He bought two cars from us and he got one for free,” Clark said excitedly.
They rolled two, seethrough plastic bins full of names on pieces of paper. They called names until 20 people had been selected, after which they slowly
eliminated some and finally achieved a winner. Laura Torres was one of the 20 selectees but, alas, she was eliminated. She was, nevertheless, excited about the giveaway.
“I need a car and I am sure all these people do, too,” she said.
