Cameron County, Red Cross to open resource center for flood victims

On Wednesday, Cameron County and the American Red Cross will open a one-stop resource center to help flood victims with disaster-related community resources.

The multi agency resource center will be run out of the La Feria Safe Room/Dome, located at 1700 South Main St. (corner of West Dodd Lane) from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Red Cross will also open similar centers in Hidalgo and Willacy County.

Some of the free services that will be offered to flood victims include:
• case management,
• mental health, emotional & spiritual care,
• medical assistance,
• gift cards,
• home clean out registration,
• mosquito control prevention supplies and
• other resources will be available

English and Spanish-speaking volunteers will be available to help anyone who needs assistance. Affected residents needing help cleaning their flood damaged homes can call the TX RGV Flooding Home Cleanup Hotline at (956) 465-4127.
