It’s almost time for the Easter Egg Hunt

HARLINGEN — The holiday hunt is about to begin.

The city’s annual Community Easter Egg Hunt is set for Saturday morning at the Harlingen Soccer Complex at 4515 E. Harrison Ave.

As usual the city Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring this year’s event which will begin at 10 a.m. and will run until just past noon.

The hunt will be appropriate for kids aged 1 through 12, and parks and rec officials urge parents to bring baskets for the goodies.

To ensure everybody has a fair chance at the candy, hunts are scheduled in half-hour increments by age group.

For example, at 10:30 a.m., kids 3 and under will have the field to themselves. At 11 a.m., 4- and 5-year-olds are featured, and at 11:30 a.m. kids 6 to 8 will be allowed to track the eggs.

At noon, kids between the ages of 9 and 12 can compete for the candy.

The event is free and open to the public.

The weather forecast Saturday calls for highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, with a 20-percent chance of showers.
