Cameron County Pct. 4 warehouse and office nearly complete

LA FERIA — Cameron County Commissioner Gus Ruiz projects the grand opening of the new Precinct 4 office and county warehouse, named the Leon and Linda Bence County Building, will be ready by mid-November.

The building sits on 5-acres off White Ranch Road in La Feria.

The Leon and Linda Bence Revocable Trust donated the land for the site last year.

The property had been valued at more than $100,000.

The total cost of the project is $1.97 million.

The warehouse building is 15,000 square feet. The office space for the commissioner is 1,800 square feet.

Currently, the Precinct 4 warehouse sits on less than an acre of land in Harlingen.

“I want to thank the Leon and Linda Bence Revocable Trust for this great opportunity,” Ruiz said in an earlier interview.

Ruiz represents La Feria, Santa Maria, Santa Rosa, Combes, Palm Valley, Los Indios and Harlingen.
