Cyclist struck, killed east of Harlingen

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a fatal accident that killed a Brownsville woman Sunday morning.

According to DPS, 47-year-old Rosie Romo, of Brownsville, and another cyclist were traveling east on FM 106 when they were struck by a Ford F-250 east of FM 509 just outside the Harlingen city limits around 7:30 a.m.

Both cyclist were hit by the right front corner of the pickup. They were taken to the hospital where Romo died. The other cyclist was also injured, but not life threatening.

There is no word on whether the driver will be charged.
