McALLEN — With six months left to go in the La Plaza Mall expansion project, H&M and Zara, among others, will be coming to the mall.
Besides H&M and Zara, new shopping options coming include Kendra Scott, Reeds Jewelers, Flip Flop Shops and a T-Mobile store, according to the mall’s marketing agency. In addition to Palenque Grill, new dining options will include Texas de Brazil and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
A new parking garage has already opened and another parking garage is expected to be open by the end of the year. The entire mall expansion, which is expected to include over 25 new specialty stores, four anchor stores, a dining plaza and six restaurants, is slated to be completed before year’s end. The remaining businesses will be announced as the expansion nears completion.
“This expansion gives us the opportunity to offer the McAllen community and our loyal shoppers an unprecedented array of retailers and dining options to amplify the La Plaza Mall experience,” said Roberto Luciano, general manager of La Plaza Mall. “We are proud to see these respected brands join the extensive updates and enhancements already taking place. We look forward to announcing future exciting additions.”
H&M is an international clothing-retail company with nearly 500 locations in the United States and almost 30 in Mexico, including stores in Brownsville and Laredo. Zara is a Spanish-based clothing and accessory retailer, with more than 75 locations in both the United States and Mexico.
Kendra Scott, founded in Austin, offers jewelry and home decor. Reeds Jewelers has fine jewelry and watches.
The city of McAllen said when the expansion was announced that all the new businesses would be “first to market.” The new Palenque Grill marks a third location in McAllen.
Texas de Brazil is a Brazilian steakhouse. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory specializes in sweets, including fudge, candy apples, truffles and chocolate.
