Reports: RGV native killed in Orlando terror attack

Rio Grande Valley native Frank Escalante was reportedly killed in the shooting early Sunday morning at the Orlando, Florida gay nightclub, friends and reports said.

Rio Grande Valley native Frank Escalante was reportedly killed in the shooting early Sunday morning at the Orlando, Florida gay nightclub, friends and reports said.

Aqui Estamos RGV, an LGBTQ and justice advocacy group, posted about Escalante on its Facebook page.

Escalante’s name was not on the initial victim’s list, but he has also been referred to as “Frank Hernandez” in some social media post. There is a Frank Hernandez listed as one of the victims.

There were 50 people killed in the shooting at Pulse Nightclub early Sunday morning and over 50 wounded.

VIGIL FOR ORLANDO TONIGHT

A candle light vigil will be held tonight in Harlingen in memory of those killed in Orlando.

South Texas Equality Project will hold a vigil at 7 p.m. at the Valley AIDS Council, 2306 Camelot Plaza Circle.

The group says the vigil is meant as “a space for us to heal spiritually and come together for action to protect our community.”
