2 charged in credit card scheme

HARLINGEN — Two men were arrested for fraudulent use and possession of credit card information, police said.

Detectives working through the weekend discovered that the two suspects, Victor Fernando Mejia-Garcia and Oziel David Garcia, were allegedly stealing credit card information from customers at one or more local businesses where at least one was employed.

According to police, they were in possession of hundreds of credit card numbers from victims in Harlingen as well as possibly all over the United States.

Harlingen police responded to a restaurant in Harlingen in reference to a credit card abuse case.

During the course of the investigation, a local FBI task force investigator partnered with HPD on the case.

Both suspects were arrested and later arraigned on state charges of “Fraud Use/possession, identifying Information — a state jail felony”.

Bond for Victor F. Mejia-Garcia and Oziel David Garcia was set at $25,000.
