A Brownsville kickball coach accused in the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a Porter High School student has pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault with a child.
Claudia Yvette Guerra, 30, entered the guilty plea last week and was sentenced to seven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system, officials said.
In September of last year, Guerra was accused of picking up the girl from the high school and taking her to Mexico without permission from the girl’s parents.
A lookout was placed on Guerra’s vehicle and she was arrested on Sept. 28, 2016 at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville as she tried to cross from Mexico to Brownsville.
The teenager walked across the Gateway International Bridge, also in Brownsville, where authorities were waiting for her. She was transported to the Brownsville PD for questioning.
A Cameron County grand jury in November indicted Guerra on three counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child/sexual contact, according to court records. The alleged assaults occurred on Sept. 1, according to the indictments.
