LETTERS: Is Biden above law?

During both impeachments of President Trump, one almost got tired of hearing the catch phrase “No one is above the law.” The Democrats, almost every one participating, used it so often you would almost think they had gotten together for each to verify its inclusion in all areas of their impeachment accusations. Of course, this was all very pointedly directed toward President Trump.

What about our current president? Don’t we have immigration laws to protect the boundaries and sovereignty of the United States? Are our country’s laws being enforced? Don’t our elected officials take an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution? Is the president doing this? Aren’t Democrats supposed to follow the law?

I realize there are hypocrites on both sides of the aisle. No denying it, but where are all those senators who were doing all the broadcasting nationwide that “no one is above the law” during the impeachment proceedings? Why aren’t they coming forward en masse to protest what the current president is doing or rather what he’s not doing? You know as well as I do why they don’t. One would think that at least some of them would have meant it when they declared that “no one is above the law.” Didn’t they take that same oath? You wonder sometimes if politicians are representing the people, themselves, or each other.

Republicans who publicly come forward in the news at least seem to want to enforce laws to protect boundaries, properties and citizens. Human suffering occurs all over the world. The United States gives a lot but can do just so much before it breaks. What feels good isn’t necessarily what’s needed.
