LETTER: Disregard for citizens

Somebody with political power in our county needs to step up and stand up against the cruel actions against our own defenseless citizen families.

No one dares speak up against Big Tech and Big Media cancel culture. We’re currently living the disdainful McCarthyism of the Fifties in reverse.

We’re undergoing a blatant breach and insurrection of immigration laws. This is economically and medically destroying the lives of numerous citizen families.

We’re being canceled by the politics of unrestrained illegal entry into our country, without regard for the legal process, and health protocols that deplete economic, medical and hospital resources for our own citizens.

It is an unprecedented and selective disregard for our own area’s people who are the backbone of every grant and program that energize these activists working against the citizens.

The activists enjoy their media attention-getting by exploiting the “humanitarian talking points” when they showcase the work they do for illegal crossers before the cameras.

Sadly, there are no cameras, voices or caring gestures for the many, many affected families who are here legally through no fault of their own.

Being selective about empathy and compassion for our fellow brothers and sisters does not define a humanitarian.

If you do it for a six-digit salary, or any salary at all, it is plain hypocrisy. When it is done from the heart, equally for illegal crossers and legal residents, with one’s own personal little resources, or merely out of love and kindness, that is authentic humanitarianism.

This discriminatory neglect against our own citizens just because they’re here legally is heartless and shameful.
