LETTER: Renewables are unreliable

Texas is now the biggest wind energy producer in the USA with more than25,000 megawatts of capacity (enough for at least 5 million homes), but the recent cold snap froze almost half of the wind turbines. This reduced electrical generation capacity by 12,000 megawatts. This resulted in ERCOT calling for rolling blackouts (placing 4.5 million Texans without electricity) in our power grid in most of the state, including us here in the Rio Grande Valley.

Renewable energy has proven to be unreliable. We have plenty of natural gas available. Now would be a great time to start using it and cut back on the unreliable sources.

Solar panels don’t work under inches of snow and ice.

Enough with the fake energy already.
