Political Statement: 

Omar Quintanilla, current McAllen City Commissioner District 3, has been serving his District since May 2017.  He has been a strong advocate of issues related to drainage improvement, beautification projects and creating safer neighborhoods along with assisting small businesses and seeking ongoing economic development opportunities and job creation.  He is seeking re-election for his second term in order to continue to meet the needs of his District while also providing excellent oversight on city “at-large” issues.

A native of Mission, Texas, upon his high school graduation Omar attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio where he graduated with an emphasis in Corporate Finance in 1994.

He is currently a Senior Vice President at Frost Bank in McAllen where he handles middle market corporate accounts.  He helped many small businesses start-up operations locally with his guidance and knowledge of Small Business Administration (SBA) programs.  Omar has a strong appreciation for meeting business and community needs on a broad basis as well as focusing on the underserved.

He has served in leadership roles for various community organizations such as the Community Development Block Grant committee, McAllen Library Board, Amigos del Valle Inc., McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the McAllen Development Corporation  and he is a graduate of Leadership McAllen’s Class 20.
