Annova scraps LNG project

STAFF REPORT

Annova LNG, one of three companies that had proposed building liquefied natural gas export terminals at the Port of Brownsville, today announced that it is scrapping the project.

Part of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation, Annova said the decision was based on “changes in the global LNG market,” according to energy news source S&P Global Platts, which reported that the announcement came after the “abrupt departure” of Annova CEO Omar Kayum, who is now with TC Energy in Canada.

Texas LNG and Next Decade LNG have also signed leases with the Port of Brownsville.
