‘United Against Hunger’ distribution event at Southmost Library cancelled for this week

United Way of Southern Cameron County announced they will be cancelling this week’s food distribution event that was scheduled to take place at the Southmost Public Library on Friday morning.

They said the food distribution will resume at next Friday, May 29, at the Brownsville Events Center.

United Way of Southern Cameron County held its first ‘United Against Hunger’ event where they handed out food bags to more than 1,600 community members at 9 a.m. on Friday April 24 at the Southmost Public Library  that included items such as eggs, fresh produce, soups, canned items and fruits.

The event is in partnership with several organizations such as the Food Bank of the RGV, Brownsville Wellness Coalition, Brownsville Community Foundation, Brownsville Foundation for Health and Education, University of Texas School of Public Health, Good Neighbor Settlement House and the City of Brownsville.
