Letters: Republicans draw critique

Poor old Herschel Walker, he just seems to keep digging a deeper hole because of his lifestyle and his seeming infatuation with having sex with as many women as possible. With his desires running rampant, I wonder when those women who were showered with his affections will come out and say if it was not consensual.

What do all these political Republican men have in common? Their libidos seem to be in overdrive. In the olden days they would have been ashamed to face the public but not anymore; virtue doesn’t seem to mean a thing to these Republicans.

The Oct. 11 Photo of the Day in your paper shows Franklin D. Roosevelt giving a talk to the public. Back in the good ole days, they told us what they were going to do for the country, but now all we hear is accusations of what their opponent is going to do to us. Mayra Flores is an example of the kind of advertisement that is being spewed out via social media, TV ads and in person. Millions of dollars were spent in the Valley this year! She didn’t say what legislation she would pass, the only action she did is write a letter asking for money for small businesses and utilities relief for poor people, and that is against Republicans who spout no welfare.

Name calling

draws complaint

The Oct. 9 letter to the editor from Ricardo Rosales Sr. asked lots of questions. Whether he really expected answers or not he didn’t say. But I, for one, can appreciate his 68-year-old inquisitive mind. What I don’t appreciate is his reference to President Biden as “Creepy Joe” and also addressing our vice-president as Kamala “Giggles” Harris. Was this his idea of a joke? Was he hoping to make people laugh or just make them giggle? Was he influenced by the master of name-callers, Donald Trump, to do some name-calling of his own?

According to Jake Longoria (Letters, Oct. 2 Your Voices, Oct. 12), this is common sense and logically so.

But, just to make sure everyone understands this, when it comes to the art of name-calling, no one can out-shine our former president Donald Trump. So, forget about even trying.

So, instead of engaging in name-calling, why not focus on what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have accomplished in their lives? Joe Biden received his education at ArchmereAcademy, the University of Delaware and SyracuseUniversityCollege of Law. He is an accomplished writer. He served our country well as a senator for more than 35 years and as President Obama’s vice-president for eight. He is now our 46th president, struggling to save our successful century’s democracy from those who wish to destroy it.

Kamala Harris is also an accomplished writer. She received her education at the University of California, Hastings College of Law and HowardUniversity. She was an attorney general for six years and a senator for four. She is the first black woman ever to be elected vice president of the United States! And who in their right mind cannot love her healthy laugh?

The above are but a few of what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have accomplished. And they can both assure you, earning these admirable credentials was not an easy task. Hoo-boy.
