Letters: Questions for Flores

From the cotton fields to Congress, Mayra Flores is now poised to stop the drug cartels and human traffickers from crossing the border. She will lower the cost of groceries, gas and electricity. She will help small businesses thrive and create jobs locally.

Fantastic! Maybe, after she accomplishes all of the above, this energetic novice politician will, we hope, become so popular she’ll start thinking about running for president!

GOP dark money helped fund her campaign, so I’m curious. How does Mayra feel about powerful Republicans and corporate special interests wanting to destroy the stability and future of Social Security and Medicare? Many of the constituents she hopes to represent depend on these earned benefits for their livelihood. So, yes, we would like to know.

Will she be like Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who courageously stood up against the Republicans who wanted to destroy our democracy even though she knew she was going to be vilified and had much to lose? Will Mayra Flores follow in Liz Cheney’s footsteps and courageously stand up against those who want to take away Social Security and Medicare so they can give tax breaks to the very rich? Or will she oblige the GOP and also join them so she can avoid being vilified?

Courage, it seems to me, has been a rare commodity among this new breed of Republicans. It’s my hope, however, that Mayra doesn’t fall into this category. I hope her inherited Mexican courage comes through and she’ll fiercely fight for country and family.

And as for God, well, He can pretty much take care of Himself. Hoo-boy.

Democrats

draw attack

Joe Biden and Democrats may be mentally disturbed, trying to erase our history and monuments to add to the chaos under this administration. This is how communism and fascism begin.

Where is Biden the “unifying president,” because I don’t see him.

Democrats make it sound like the North was all good and the South was all bad. Sorry, just not the case. There are good and bad people on every side and during the Civil War it was no different.

Erasing or destroying these symbols will not change our history no matter how hard they try. Destroying our textbooks and eliminating and/or erasing the trauma will not change history. We need to keep it as part of our history so that it never happens again, but it looks like the administration instead is intent on increasing racism again throughout our nation by doing these volatile things and by attempting to alter history, textbooks and even our definitions and language to inflict more chaos.

The administration is dividing the American people more each day.

These are highly controlling, misguided people and they need to go. Vote out these Democrats in the next several elections. They have been bought by those who wish us harm and who want to topple our government for their needs and wants.

I’m a disabled veteran, an independent voter and I love this country. I can’t stand by while these disturbed and angry people want to destroy our nation, can you?
