I love politics but I cringe when certain elected RGV officials are indicted and found guilty of serious crimes. But we have honest, hard-working officials like my tocayos Hidalgo County Judge Rick Cortez and Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez and Pharr City Commissioner Ricardo Medina, former County Judge Ramon Garcia and former Pharr Mayor Leo “Polo” Palacios, who did great jobs in office.
Many RGV residents don’t want to vote because they always say why vote, because all politicians are bad. I say, please check out the candidates’ history before voting.
I think family is everything. I met and talked to Mr. Ricardo Rodriguez Sr. about his family when his son ran for office along with current District Judge Renee Betancourt, who is his daughter, and they got my vote.
In our great USA we have the right to vote, but it’s depressing when only 60% of our national population goes out to vote but the other 40% who didn’t vote usually complain, like “Aviator” Joe, who is destroying our nation.
I urge my fellow RGV citizens to register to vote, so come 2024 we will have a president who will unite us and not tear our great country apart.
I’m thinking of running for the Pharr City Commission in 2023, so I welcome you asking me tough questions about my candidacy.
