A highly disturbing trend is happening in Texas along the border and especially in our RGV concerning how women are being harassed, threatened and even criminalized. Egregious acts against women are being perpetrated by individuals as well as politicians and police. What are they?
1) In late January, the NationalButterflyCenter in Mission and its female director were targeted and threatened by the We Stand America MAGA event that took place in McAllen. The nature center had to be closed for the weekend of Jan. 28-30 due to credible threats.
2) In February in Brownsville, a young woman was arrested and detained for suspected graffiti of a SpaceX mural. The woman was handcuffed at her apartment and held for more than 24 hours in a jail cell. Additionally, the Brownsville mayor posted on Facebook this woman’s name, mugshot and occupation and later deleted it.
3) In April in StarrCounty, a woman was charged with murder over a self-induced abortion forcing her to spend three days in jail. Are StarrCounty officials sending a message to all women in that county that they will face criminal consequences for asserting their bodily autonomy and family privacy issues?
What do all of these have in common? Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas’ current Republican legislation. They visit and gaslight the border for their own political and financial gain at the expense and even imprisonment of the local women.
Elections have consequences and if you have been considering whom to vote for in November, think carefully as this is what will continue to happen in Texas under Republican Party candidates. Vote blue and vote Beto! Or after the next election, we will have the Texas Taliban in total control.

I could not help laughing at all of those people, mainly Republicans, who got duped by the We Build the Wall organization, a so-called nonprofit organization. Brian Kolfage, founder of We Build the Wall along with Andrew Badolato, pleaded guilty to one count of committing wire fraud and three other counts of wire fraud and filing a false incomes tax return. With the support of our former president Donald Trump, he pushed a fundraiser campaign online to except donations for the We Build the Wall effort, backed up by news outlets like Fox News.
Who would have thought that a pro-Republican news outlet like Fox News would have shown countless appearances from Mr. Kolfage in support of his fundraising effort to build a wall on the border.
Some Republicans were taken in by this thief. I would hope that the people who supported the fraud will someday get their money back. But don’t hold your breath.
Republicans, stop being fooled by this frauds. It’s all about the money. Trump is all about the money. Open your eyes.

Why can’t you just admit Biden has done nothing right sense he took office?
