Letters: Beach closures draw complaint

As a winter Texan for more than 20 years I became quite outraged when I heard the news that Mr. Elon Musk was shutting down BocaChicaBeach. We have been able to enjoy the fishing and shelling and we also saw many other Texans also.

Money again seems to be talking in Texas. It is not his to regulate.

Border meeting

draws criticism

Just a few comments regarding the recent meeting of the Texas Border Coalition on April 8.

First, I found it somewhat disturbing that no member of the TBC, which includes Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr., expressed concern and/or opposition to the pending repeal/elimination of Title 42. Instead, Mr. Treviño referred to Title 42 as a Band-Aid approach to the massive influx of illegal immigration. He also dismissed the subject/issue of immigration as a “political football.”

Mr. Treviño and other members of the TBC apparently don’t see a problem with opening the floodgates (our southern border) to a large percentage of the world’s immigrant population. The TBC should perhaps change its name to the “Open Borders Coalition/OBC.

Conservatives

show integrity

The letter to The Monitor of April 13 from Durango, Colorado, is totally contrary to what his/her idea of who conservatives are. The writer, without evidence, follows the Marxist-progressives’ playbook, accusing conservatives of what they themselves propagate everyday: hate, defamation, forced school-secretive indoctrination of innocent second- to third-grade ch`ildren in some of our public schools, usurping the inherent rights of parents to protect their children from perverted influence, as is shockingly happening today.

These, among many more offenses are conveniently ignored by this writer.

America still remembers the media-ignored riots, shootings, businesses and federal building burnings of the summer of 2020.

The writer also feigns pain at conservatives’ “disloyalty” to their country? Excuse me, news flash:

Conservatives, to name just a mere few, do no not condone anarchism, abortion, Marxism, socialism, communism, border-sovereignty assaults, critical race theory, “defund the police” and defaming a legitimate Supreme Court nominee (Brett Kavanaugh).

This writer also forgets the liberals’ disrespectful behavior during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, with no consequence; also, the writer furthermore forgets the stalking of peaceful people in dining rooms and bathrooms, forgets the left’s overt movement to “defund the police” under the guise of “reimagining the police” by our own leftist so-called leaders now in power.

Moreover, these progressive socialists falsely claim credit for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Although LBJ was president at the time, House Democrats voted 152-96 (61%-39%) for the act, while Republicans voted 138-34 (80%-20%). Democrats made 74% of the “no” votes.

After a 54-day filibuster by Senate Democrats and change were made, it passed the Senate with a 73-27 vote. About 82% of Republicans in the Senate voted for the bill, as did 69% of Democrats. The amended Senate bill was sent back to the House and passed with 76% support from Republicans and 60% support from Democrats.

Yes, conservatives take integrity, facts and loyalty to their country very seriously, indeed.
