Letters: Home Care Act backed

The continuing COVID-19 pandemic has shown the limitations and risks of skilled nursing facilities, as well as the importance of extended care at home beyond the pandemic. There is a better way to care for seriously ill Medicare beneficiaries after hospital discharge.

Fortunately, bipartisan lawmakers in Congress introduced legislation that would expand home-based care options for seniors in our community. This legislation, the Choose Home Care Act, would establish an additional patient-centered home health option called Choose Home to help meet seniors’ comprehensive care needs.

Choose Home would offer extended care services in the comfort and convenience of a patient’s home after hospitalization instead of requiring them to stay in a skilled nursing facility. It would also provide support, training and education for family caregivers.

I hope our states’ lawmakers in Congress will resolve to support this important bipartisan legislation.

Sincerely,

‘Biden’ guys

hold bad hand

Those “Biden” guys, especially those from Elsa, are really playing their poker hand hard. Instead of “folding” and admitting they’ve been dealt a terrible hand, the Biden boys are “bluffing,” still trying to make it appear that they do have a winnable hand.

Just fold already and take the loss. It has been over a year under Biden and still nothing is built, nothing is back and nothing is better. You dudes have been dealt a terrible hand and still think you can win.

It took months for the Democratic Senate to pass the economic stimulus that gave us $600, but it took them only days to approve more than $15 billion in aid to Ukraine. The $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill Biden signed last month shamefully decreases the U.S. Customs and Border Protection budget from last year, but at the same time provides billions of dollars for other countries’ border security.

What about our border security? Trump only wanted about $21.6 billion for the fence. Yeah, Democrats couldn’t do that, but they can send all that money elsewhere.

I don’t know how the Border Patrol is expected to do its job successfully with Biden’s open-border policies (allowing millions of illegal immigrants in) and with a lot less money do it! It seems Biden cares more about other countries’ security than about the U.S.

All I know is that gas prices are at all-time highs. Food costs have gone higher. Inflation is way higher now than during the previous administration. Insane amounts of money are being spent on other countries. To heck with our own southern border. To heck with our own citizens.

Yeah, you “Biden” guys, time to fold your hand, and admit that you’ve been had. Enough of the bluffing.

If only Trump

were president

Many readers seem to be in a self-induced state of hysterical confusion; they still think Donald Trump is president. Take my word for it: he isn’t.

If he were still president, however, there would be no massive influx of illegal “immigrants” parading into our country daily. Gasoline wouldn’t cost $5 per gallon because, unlike the guy who’s supposed to be in charge now, we would not be shutting down America’s energy independence and having to beg others to fill in the shortage. I’ll take a page from the Biden crew: Don’t like high gasoline prices, just go out and spend $40,000 on an electric car and begin to search for a place to charge the batteries.

We also would not have a cackling vice president who thinks everything is laughable and who does not have a clue what’s going on in the world.

When Trump spoke everyone listened; when Biden speaks everyone rolls their eyes.

Trump bad

for country

You want to talk about Donald Trump, let’s talk about Trump. What I’m going to write about is available to anyone under public records of the budget in 2017 under president Trump’s presidency.

In 2017 Trump approved of a budget that eliminated programs that supported rural jobs, housing, infrastructure, health care and economic development. Those budget costs also eliminated affordable housing for tens of thousands of struggling rural families, and also eliminated were community service jobs for more than 20,000 senior citizens living in rural areas. Trump’s budget cuts also eliminated critical support for airline connections to serve small and rural communities.

This is the hero of many. This is the real Donald Trump.

Trump was for the rich. Why? Because he never in his lifetime understood what the poor people in this country have to endure to survive.

If you’d like, I’ve got plenty more examples of how bad Trump was for this country.
