HARLINGEN — A Texas nonprofit that operates shelters for unaccompanied migrant children will hold a major job fair Thursday at the Harlingen Convention Center.

BCFS Health and Human Services-Harlingen is seeking to fill a number of positions for direct care workers, clinicians, transporters, unit managers, case managers and other management positions.

A sign-on bonus of up to $3,000 is approved for some positions.

The positions at BCFS offer full or partially paid benefits as well as vacation time and retirement plans.

Wages for the BCFS jobs are $18.50 per hour for direct care workers, with a sign-on bonus, $65,395 per year for clinicians, also with a sign-on bonus, $20 per hour with sign-on bonus for unit managers, $69,300 per year for lead facilitators, $19 per hour for transporters and $26.10 per hour for case managers with sign-on bonus.

Assistant lead case managers will receive $26.35 per hour plus the sign-on bonus.

BCFS, based in San Antonio, will operate a 24-hour child-care facility in Harlingen for migrant children between the ages of 5 and 17.

Minimum requirements for the BCFS jobs are at least 21 years of age, high school diploma or GED, clean criminal and driving records and fluency in English and Spanish. Some jobs may require a higher level of education or experience.

The job fair Thursday begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m.
