City of San Benito Interim Public Works Director Anibal Garcia was named Assistant Public Works Director, the city announced Feb. 1.
Garcia, a U.S. Navy veteran, was a Waste Water Plant Operator with the City of San Benito from 2018-2019 and became the city’s Capital Improvement Project Coordinator in July 2022.
According to a press release, Garcia’s background in mechanical engineering – which includes serving aboard nuclear-powered submarines during his time in the Navy, a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Management from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, and working as an engineering technician with Vanguard Resources in Brownsville – will serve as a great asset to the city.
