U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, with bipartisan help, introduced a bill Monday that seeks to help small businesses in rural areas.

Cuellar, D-Texas, passed the bipartisan Expanding Access to Capital for Rural Job Creators Act with co-sponsors Congressman Chris Pappas, D- New Hampshire; Alex X. Mooney, R-West Virginia; and Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez, D-New Mexico, to help small businesses in rural areas access capital.

“Small businesses, and the entrepreneurs behind them, are the backbone of the South Texas economy,” Cuellar said in a press release. “Rural economies like ours face unique challenges, including a lack of access to capital.”

That’s why Cuellar said he introduced the bill.

“Job creation remains a priority of mine in Congress; this Act will ensure we continue to create good-paying jobs across the 28th District of Texas.

Cuellar and co-sponsors are now urging the Senate to pass this legislation to help rural entrepreneurs with the resources necessary to succeed.
