Lubbock-based Vexus Fiber has announced it is rolling out a high-speed fiber optic network in the Rio Grande Valley.

The internet service will be available for both business and residential customers in the McAllen and Harlingen areas, company officials say.

“We are extremely excited to be able to further increase our service footprint throughout Texas,” said Jim Gleason, CEO of Vexus Fiber. “As a company that is headquartered in Lubbock, it’s nice to continue our investment in this great state.”

“Our future-proof network will allow residents and businesses of the Rio Grande Valley to experience an internet connection that is extremely reliable, very fast and supports all their internet needs,” he added.

Vexus already is providing internet service in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. Texas locations are Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock and Wichita Falls.

“Reliability, speed and local support are the three things most wanted by customers, and Vexus offers all three,” said Gleason.

As installation of the fiber optic cable continues throughout the Valley, residents in construction areas will receive 30 days advance notice via email and mail about construction activity in their neighborhood.

On the company’s website, Vexus offers internet, TV and phone services.

Pricing runs from $33 a month for limited basic TV to $95.99 a month for the platinum tier.

Premium channels like HBO, Cinemax and Showtime are extra.

Phone service is $19.99 a month.

High-speed internet service varies depending on how much speed you need.

Prices range from $49.99 to $59.99 for 150/150 (150 megabytes per second download and 150 mbps upload) to $99.99 or $109.99 per month for 1000/500 mbps.

An HD TV streaming box is $3.99 per month and wireless router rental is $9.99 per month, although customers have the option of purchasing the router for $90.

Overall, a quick calculation shows that anyone wanting the minimum television/phone/internet package would pay around $126.96 a month with one TV box and renting a router.

A one-time installation fee of $50, along with a wireless router setup ($15) and account setup ($20) will be tacked onto the first bill. Taxes also apply.
