A 25-year-old Palmview man accused of killing his brother on Christmas hit him with a PVC pipe during a fight, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Luis Matilde Enrique Cruz is charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and murder for the holiday death of his brother, Saul Matilde Cruz.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office arrested Luis at about 2:46 p.m. at a Mission hospital after nurses there said he arrived to the location with his dead brother in his front seat, according to the affidavit.
That document is brief and just said he admitted to fighting Saul and hitting him with a PVC pipe.
The sheriff’s office upgraded the charges against Luis to murder on Thursday and jail records indicate he is being held on a $1 million bond on that charge and an additional $500,000 on the aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury charge.
