Brownsville’s annual Veterans Day parade scheduled for Saturday

Brownsville’s annual Veterans Day parade is scheduled to take place Saturday along Southmost Boulevard.

The parade begins at 2 p.m. and the route will run along Southmost Boulevard from Trevino’s Funeral Home at 1955 Southmost Boulevard to the H-E-B at 2950 Southmost Boulevard.

The annual parade honors all veterans serving all branches of the military.

“It’s a good opportunity to honor our Veterans and show our appreciation for their sacrifices,” said District 1 City Commissioner Nurith Galonsky.

Those attending the parade are encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue as a way to honor the male and female service members who have served or continue to serve in the military.

Cameron County is home to more than 19,544 veterans and their families.

Although there is a 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms on Saturday, this should happen before 1 p.m., way before the parade marches down Southmost Boulevard.
