Alamo man gets 25 years for multiple child sex abuse charges

A 59-year-old Alamo man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty on three counts of sexual abuse of a child, the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Friday.

Miguel Angel Chavez appeared in trial earlier this month on charges related to the abuse of a 6-year-old child that continued for eight years.

He was sentenced Wednesday by state District Judge Rose Guerra Reyna.

He was convicted on three counts that included continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, aggravated sexual assault of a child, and indecency with a child by sexual contact.
