Two more charged in Sunday’s downtown McAllen shooting

The McAllen Police Department made two additional arrests in Saturday’s shooting outside the No Manches Wuey bar, where a man was shot in the chest.

Naila Reyes, 28, has been charged with attempted murder, a second-degree felony, and engaging in organized criminal activity, a first-degree felony.

Police also charged Avan Ruben Mendoza, 17, for attempted murder and engaging in organized criminal activity.

McAllen police said in a news release Wednesday that they were seeking Reyes’ location along with two other individuals but didn’t mention Mendoza.

In addition to the arrests, McAllen police asked the public for assistance in locating Joel Gonzalez Jr., 19, who is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing at about 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

His last known address, according to the release, is in Donna.
