Reynosa man facing federal indictment for 200 child pornography videos

A federal grand jury has indicted a 26-year-old Reynosa man for possessing approximately 200 videos of children aged 5 to 13 that depict child sexual abuse material, according to a news release.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas announced Wednesday that the grand jury returned a two-count indictment against Ricardo Reyes-Garcia.

“According to the criminal complaint originally filed in the case, an investigation revealed Reyes-Garcia uploaded multiple files of child pornography into his Google account while in the United States,” the news release states.

A search of federal court records didn’t immediately return a copy of that criminal complaint or a copy of the indictment.

He is charged with receipt and possession of child pornography.

The news release said he is expected to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nadia S. Medrano in the near future and that if he is convicted, Reyes-Garcia faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
