Wanted Mission man arrested at Falfurrias checkpoint

Pedro Ortiz IV

The man McAllen police sought on a deadly conduct charge was arrested on Monday at the Falfurrias checkpoint after Border Patrol agents noticed his “nervous behavior,” according to a news release from the federal agency.

A judge issued several arrest warrants for 21-year-old Pedro Ortiz IV, 21 after he displayed a weapon during a disturbance in the 2200 block of S. 10th Street on Friday.

McAllen police asked the public for help in locating him on Monday, and he was ultimately arrested at the checkpoint that day.

Monday’s news release said Ortiz was referred to a secondary inspection after he displayed nervous behavior and it was then that agents discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest from McAllen police.

Agents turned him over to the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office, where he waited to be transferred.
