McAllen police searching for suspect in Sunday morning stabbing

The McAllen Police Department is searching for a suspect in a Sunday morning stabbing.

In a news release issued Monday, police said officers responded to an area near the 1500 block of Mobile Ave about 9:55 a.m. Sunday.

“A person was stabbed and was taken to a local area hospital,” police said in the statement.

On Monday, police said they were looking for 26-year-old Angel Luis Montanez, who was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing.

Police believe he crossed into Mexico and is in the area of El Control, Tamaulipas.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts or information about the stabbing is urged to call McAllen Crime Stoppers at (956) 687-TIPS (8477). Anonymous tipsters can also provide information through the smartphone application P3 Tips.

If information leads to an arrest, McAllen police said tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
