When 47-year-old Edwardo Ibarra was hospitalized in August of last year, someone went through his phone.
Then, they called police after finding child pornography on the device, according to a news release from Brownsville police.
That happened on Aug. 4, 2021.
“The complainant had custody of the phone since Ibarra was hospitalized at the time. When the complainant opened the phone and looked through the pictures, the complainant discovered the photos,” the release stated.
On Wednesday, the Brownsville Police Department’s Special Victims Unit took Ibarra into custody from the South Padre Island City Jail on four warrants for possession of child pornography.
Police on the Island had picked him up on the warrants.
Ibarra is charged with four counts of possession of child pornography and received a total of $120,000 in bonds on the charges.
