McAllen police searching for Edinburg suspect in homeless man’s murder

Police are continuing to ask for the public’s help searching for a 27-year-old Edinburg man who is suspected of a murder in McAllen.

Keith Vladimir Garcia is suspected of stabbing a man and leaving him for dead. McAllen police previously issued an arrest warrant against him for murder.

Officers arrived in the 2200 block of Datepalm Avenue in McAllen around 1:37 p.m. on July 16 in response to an assault. When they arrived police found 66-year-old George Chavez with a stab wound.

He was found at the rear of the location and was on the ground bleeding.

Chavez, who police identified as being homeless, was transported to a local hospital where he died due to the injuries.
