Residents from Hidalgo County are invited to participate in a back-to-school health fair to be held Saturday morning in Peñitas.

The Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department and Hidalgo County Precinct 3 will be hosting the fair at St. Anne’s Parish Hall located at 17117 Coconut Drive in Peñitas. It will start from 9 a.m. and finish at noon on Saturday, August 20.

All county residents are encouraged to participate free of charge.

“It’s a great opportunity for families to find what they need in preparation for the school-year under one roof,” Eddie Olivarez, the Health and Human Services chief administrative officer, said via news release.

Health screenings will be offered as well as information on health-based programs available in different precincts.

Vaccinations for students will be available at $5 for children and $10 for adults. COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as 5 will be free.

Free school supplies and barbecue plates will be handed out while supplies last.

“As the school year approaches, we are excited to provide the community with back-to-school vaccines and school supplies,” Everardo “Ever” Villarreal, Hidalgo County Pct. 3 commissioner, said via news release on Tuesday.
