Former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman to visit RGV Tuesday

Troy Aikman, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, will be in the Rio Grande Valley promoting his new beer this week.

Troy Aikman, the legendary former Dallas Cowboys quarterback who led America’s team to three Superbowl titles in the 1990s, will be in the Rio Grande Valley this week.

Aikman is expected to make an appearance at Weslaco’s food truck park, The Eatery, located in the heart of downtown, on Tuesday afternoon.

The famous quarterback-turned-NFL-commentator will be the guest of The Craft, a local craft beer and “street fusion pizza” vendor located at the popular outdoor dining destination on Kansas Street.

“Make plans to join us to welcome this legendary quarterback,” The Craft stated in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Aikman is expected to arrive at 4:30 p.m. with a leadup tailgate party starting well beforehand at noon.

The NFL Hall of Famer will be promoting a new beer called Elite EIGHT Light Lager by EIGHT Beer.

According to a company spokesperson, Elite EIGHT is “a light lager. We are a ‘better-for-you’ brand made without any adjuncts. No sugar or corn.”

The Austin-based EIGHT Beer launched in February of this year with Elite EIGHT as its signature brew and is just now expanding its retail sales into the Valley.

“It’s certainly a light beer, but with a wonderful flavor,” the spokesperson stated.

The Craft is located at 400 S. Kansas Ave. in Weslaco.
