Vandals damage Harlingen splash pad

HARLINGEN — Vandals are ruining for the summer for many of the area’s children.

Officials here have closed off the city’s popular splash pad at the Lon C. Hill destination park after vandals broke its operating controls.

“This has caused the splash pad to not be functional and it will not be fixed for several weeks to months,” police officials stated in a press release.

Investigators believe vandals hit the splash pad, causing an estimated $6,000 in damages, Sunday night or early Monday.

Police are urging those with information to call the Harlingen Police Department at 956-216-5401.
