In this photo provided by police, Osvaldo Rodriguez, 42, who was wanted by Mont Belvieu police for murder, is seen standing behind a white Chevy four door truck June 23 on the 600 block of north I-69 before being struck and killed.

Harlingen police has identified the victim of a fatal auto-pedestrian crash as Osvaldo Rodriguez, 42, who was wanted by Mont Belvieu police for murder, according to a press release.

On June 23, Harlingen police responded around 6 p.m. to the 600 block of north I-69 and found Rodriguez had been struck by a vehicle and killed. At the time, Rodriguez did not have any identification on him.

During the investigation, Harlingen and Mont Belvieu police were able to positively identify the victim as Rodriguez.

Local church vandalized

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, located at 1015 E Van Buren Ave., was vandalized over the weekend, according to police.

A statue of the Virgin Mary was broken and two other statues are missing.
