Brownsville police trying to ID victim of auto-pedestrian accident

Brownsville police are trying to identify a man who died of injuries he received in an auto-pedestrian accident.

The Hispanic man is said to be between 50 to 60 years old, weighs between 180 to 200 pounds and is 5 feet 7 inches tall.

The accident happened at about 10 p.m. Saturday at the 2100 block of Minnesota Avenue.

The man was walking across Minnesota Avenue when he struck by a vehicle, said Investigator Martin Sandoval, spokesman for the Brownsville Police Department.

The man did not use the crosswalk at the corner of Minnesota and Padre Island Highway to cross the street, Sandoval said.

The vehicle that struck the man remained at the scene and waited for police to arrive, while the man was transported to Valley Regional Medical Center where he died early Sunday morning.

The investigation continues.
