San Benito CISD student charged with terror threat

A San Benito CISD student was taken into custody Thursday by San Benito police and charged with one count of felony terroristic threat after authorities received information about a threat made on Snapchat.

Police said the student made the threat by posting a photo of himself holding a handgun with the caption, “Don’t come to school tomorrow.” The student was attending summer school at San Benito High School, police said.

According to a press release, the San Benito Police Department got the information at approximately 7:23 a.m.

San Benito police officers and San Benito CISD Police went to the high school the student attended, as well as to his home.

According to the release, officers found the student at his home before he left for school, where he was taken into custody.

During the investigation, police found the suspect got a photo of another student with a weapon and added the caption, which prompted the emergency response.
