An Edinburg man in possession of approximately 900 child pornography videos was arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to a criminal complaint.
Adan Alvarez Gutierrez, who was born in 1986, is charged with possessing or accessing child pornography.
On June 15, agents in the Homeland Security Investigations were contacted by the Texas Attorney General’s Office with an investigative referral from Google, the complaint said.
According to the document, the referral involved a suspect account uploading multiple files of child pornography into a Google account.
Around 1 p.m. that same day, agents made contact with Gutierrez at a residence in Edinburg where he admitted to downloading and possessing child pornography, according to the complaint.
The document said he consented to a search of his cellphone which is when he directed the agents to his MEGA account, a cloud-based storage, revealing the approximate 900 videos of child pornography.
Gutierrez’s hearing is set for June 22 before Magistrate Judge Nadia Medrano.
