An Edinburg man accused of sexual assault will be spending 80 years in prison after a jury found him guilty on multiple counts Friday, according to District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez Jr.

Andrew Salazar Ramos is charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

According to jail records, Ramos committed the offenses on Oct. 9, 2017, and was booked by the Edinburg Police Department two days later.

Ramos had been previously jailed by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office a few months prior to the incident on a driving while intoxicated charge, jail records show.

According to the indictment, Ramos restrained his victim and moved her from one place to another with the intent to prevent her from being freed by using force or threatening her.

“… by restricting the movements of said [victim], without her consent, so as to interfere substantially with her liberty, by confining her, with the intent to prevent her liberation by using or threatening to use deadly force, namely, striking her with his hand, kicking her with his foot and threatening to kill her,” the indictment states.

The document also reveals that Ramos attempted to strangle his victim.
