Natural disaster HARP funds still available for Valley residents

Homeowners with property damage due to flooding or other natural disasters that occurred in 2018 and 2019 can still file for Homeowner Assistance and Reimbursement Programs (HARP) funds.

The Texas General Land Office is accepting applications for the program for residents of Cameron, Willacy and Hidalgo counties.

HARP covers repairs or full reconstruction of a primary residence, as well as repayment of eligible out-of-pocket repair costs up to $50,000.

An application must be submitted along with the required documents for consideration.

The HARP program covers repairing and rehabilitating damaged homes, reconstruction, improving damaged homes to be better-protected from future disasters elevating homes above flood level, temporary relocation assistance and reimbursement of up to $50,000 for certain out-of-pocket expenses incurred for repairs, including repayment of Small Business Administration loans.
