Customs officers seize $1M in meth, cocaine at Hidalgo bridge

A total of $1 million worth of narcotics was seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge over the weekend, federal authorities said in a news release.

Customs officers stopped a gold Ford pickup attempting to enter Mexico on Friday. During their inspection, officers discovered five packages hidden within the vehicle, CBP said in the release.

According to the release, one of the packages found contained 2.38 pounds of cocaine, while the other three packages held 8.68 pounds of methamphetamine.

Additionally, CBP conducted an inspection on a white Mazda SUV on Sunday. Officers found 88 packages of methamphetamine weighing 67.72 pounds hidden within the vehicle, according to the release.

Authorities did not provide a breakdown of the value in each incident.
