McAllen police officer suspended after DWI arrest

A McAllen police officer has been placed on unpaid suspension after being arrested Saturday on allegations of driving while intoxicated.

Lt. Joel Morales of the McAllen Police Department confirmed Saturday that Eric Adam Suarez, who was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety on a DWI charge, is an officer with the department and has been suspended without pay.

Hidalgo County Jail records show that Suarez was booked Saturday.

Suarez, of Alamo, has since been released on a $1,000 bond.
